THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a motivated Bioinformatics Analyst to join our research team. This position will support ongoing genomics projects through data analysis, visualization, and reporting. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills in a collaborative research environment while contributing to impactful scientific projects.

This is a full-time, hybrid (2+ days/week) or on-site role, based in Cambridge, MA.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute established bioinformatics pipelines and workflows for processing sequencing data (DNA-seq, RNA-seq, variant calling) and gene editing data (amplicon sequencing, hybrid capture)

  • Perform quality control analyses on incoming samples and datasets

  • Develop data visualizations and summary reports to communicate findings to research team

  • Maintain organized documentation of methods, analyses, and results

  • Collaborate with wet lab scientists understand project goals and contribute to experimental design

  • Troubleshoot pipeline issues and coordinate with team on complex analyses

  • Participate in team meetings and present analysis results

  • Contribute to method validation and qualification and pipeline optimization efforts

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, or related field, OR Bachelor's degree with 3+ years relevant experience

  • Experience with Linux/Unix environments

  • Proficiency in at least one programming/scripting language (Python, R, or similar)

  • Understanding of next-generation sequencing technologies and analyses

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, including with regards to code, data, and projects

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

  • Must be in or willing to relocate to Greater Boston Area

Preferred:

  • Experience with workflow management systems (Nextflow, Snakemake, or similar) and containerized environments (Docker, Singularity, conda environments)

  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Google Cloud)

  • Knowledge of version control (Git/GitHub)

  • Experience with data visualization libraries (ggplot2, matplotlib, plotly)

  • Understanding of statistical analysis and experimental design

  • Prior work with CRISPR or gene editing data
